Our Story
Virago Technologies was not born in software.
It was born from experience, responsibility, and the belief that hard-earned knowledge should be used to build something better.
Before there was a software company, there was a trucking company. Virago Transport became the proving ground that showed us what small trucking companies really carry — and what disconnected systems fail to support.
Before there was software, there was Virago Transport
Built from real transportation experience.
Daryl's experience had already been shaped across driving, trucking-company ownership and operations, CDL instruction, and safety and compliance leadership. Nicole recognized the value of that experience before there was a Virago business.
She encouraged him not simply to return to driving, but to use what he had learned to build something of their own. That became Virago Transport.
Formed in 2021, Virago Transport was built deliberately. Before the first truck entered service, the foundation of the business was treated seriously: operating discipline, internal procedures, and the kind of structure small trucking companies are expected to have even when very few people are available to carry the work.
The small trucking company reality
A small trucking company still has to carry the weight of a full business.
Running the company exposed a reality familiar to many small trucking companies: the business does not become simpler because the company is small. The responsibilities simply fall on fewer shoulders.
Large companies distribute those responsibilities across departments. Small trucking companies often cannot.
The turning point
The company ended. The lessons didn't.
Virago Transport eventually ceased operations, but the experience changed the direction of what Virago would become. The knowledge remained. So did the problems.
What became increasingly clear was that many of the challenges facing small and growing trucking companies were not simply staffing problems. They were systems problems.
Critical information was fragmented. Documents were separated from the people, equipment, requirements, and decisions they affected. Workflows depended heavily on memory, manual follow-up, and disconnected software. Small organizations were being asked to perform sophisticated work without sophisticated operating infrastructure.
The Realization
The greater opportunity was not simply to perform the work. It was to build better systems for the people responsible for carrying it.
That realization ultimately became BroadKeep ERP. Explore BroadKeep ERP →
Why the name Virago matters
Strength, responsibility, direction, and purpose.
The name Virago reflects the character behind the mission. Historically, the word evokes strength, courage, resolve, and formidable leadership. For Virago, those qualities are personal.
Nicole saw possibility before there was a company. She helped inspire the original Virago business, helped build it, and kept pressing the larger vision forward after its first form ended.
The woman represented in the Virago mark is not a mascot or portrait. She represents the strength to carry responsibility, the courage to build, and the resolve to continue moving forward. Her spear represents direction, precision, and purpose. Her movement represents progress.
Technology is not the mission. Technology is the instrument.
Our commitment
We didn't enter trucking to build software. We lived the problems long enough to realize better software needed to exist.
We are building toward the kind of system we wished had existed when we were trying to keep the whole business connected ourselves.
